Tomato

Moderate to high sensitivity to the deficiency of: Ca, Mg, Fe
Low to moderately sensitivity to the deficiency of: B, Cu, Mn, Zn
(the sensitivity to the deficiencies of these nutrients can vary in function of the variety)

The production of tomatoes is always very intensive and that is why the requirements for fertilizers and plant nutrients is high. Moreover a clear distinction has to be made between the even more intensive production in hydroponics and the production in the soil in the open air or in greenhouses.

Crops in hydroponic
For crops in hydroponics BMS Micro-Nutrients developed a series of products such as Chelal Hydro NF (in different formulations) and Hyponik Oligo.
- These products can be used continuously and they supply all of the trace elements necessary for the nutrient solution. According to the quality and the analysis of the water one or the other product will be more suitable in the specific situation. All the trace elements in these products are completely chelated and available for the crops, which results in low doses to be used. These products are used preventively in order to avoid deficiencies by assuring a well balanced nutrition in trace elements during the complete cycle of the crop.
- Chelal Hydro can also be used preventively in the intensive soil culture in greenhouses.

Besides the applications in nutrients solutions and in the drip irrigation BMS Micro-Nutrients recommends also foliar applications with Fructol NF on the one hand and with the combination of Chelal Alga and Chelal Omnical on the other hand.
- Fructol NF will in above all increase the production potential of the crop and thus influence strongly the yield.
- The applications of Chelal Alga together with Chelal Omnical will improve the quality and the shelf live of the fruits.

It can be possible that the above mentioned treatments have to be complemented with treatments of boron, iron or magnesium, not so much in the hydroponics where the balance between the different nutrients can be controlled and adapted more precisely but more in the soil cultivation. This is because tomatoes are relatively sensitive to the deficiencies of these elements.

reduction carbon emissions
Ecomethod is the foliar fertilisation method that significantly reduces your fertilisation footprint. The essence of this method is simple: The chelated nutrients work efficiently, and you apply them directly through the leaf. This allows you to drastically reduce the total amount of fertiliser...
Greenhouse with tomotoes CASI
Coop CASI reduces the CO 2 emissions of the fertilisation of greenhouse tomatoes with 30,6% thanks to ECOMETHOD. CASI (Almería - Spain) and BMS Micro-Nutrients (Bornem – Belgium) have managed, through a joint project, to reduce the CO2 emissions linked to the fertilization by 30,6% compared to the...
